Welcome researchers! Welcome family! This site is a collection of genealogical information from many sources collected over many years (more than twenty). The intent of this site is to share. Some of the information comes from my own work searching databases, microfilm, books, and the like. Other information has been graciously passed to me from fellow family history hobbyists and researchers. If you are a researcher, my hope is that here you will find a lead. If you descend from people recorded here, my hope is that here you will get to know your forefolk and find a connectedness with them.
Five pages below (one for each of my grandparents and one for my husband's ancestry) contain names, dates and places for many generations. Included is documentation of church and civil records, census records, passenger lists, stories told orally, and the text of obituaties and other newspaper articles among other information. As always, be sure to check sources! I don't claim to have an error-free site. I am simply passing along information I am fortunate to have. Note: Children listed for any particular couple are known or documented children only and may not be all children for that couple.
Read the reports for more than birth, marriage, and death information; they contain many narratives. For example, read about the 1862 Minnesota Dakota Indian conflict from the perspectives of German settlers (see Jobst Ohmann in the "Ancestors of Friedrich Walter Ohmann") and a French/Sisseton man who scouted for Henry Sibley (see Joseph Coursolle in the "Ancestors of Alice Frances Sheppard"). You will also find stories of village founders, depression hardships, war and military men, a county surveyor, a mason turned farmer, many love affairs. Happy reading!

I am happy to share any information which comes my way and greatly appreciate any contributions of information, documentation, and images. Does anyone know which uncle built this table? Please let me know.
GenForum at Genealoy.com is a favorite place to search for and connect with other researchers and extended family. And it's free.
Research has only begun for the ancestor lines of our adopted Grandma Ann and Papa Jack. What's been discovered so far can be viewed in the Barslou and Martin Tree.
Calling all descendants of Frederick Walter Ohmann and Mary Cecelia Gardner!
Save the date 17 May 2008 for a reunion at Paula's bar! (More information to follow.)
In preparation for the reunion of the descendants of Fred and Mary Ohmann, please submit the information requested below one time FOR EACH DESCENDANT. For example, if you're submitting information for yourself, your spouse or partner, and your three children, you will submit this form five times. The form looks long, but there are only ten required fields. Please include descendants who have married into (or have otherwise become connected with) the family. Please include natural born, adopted, step, and love children. Please include all children even if they do not live with you. We're not making any judgements here; we're simply trying to capture a complete and accurate descendants list in order to celebrate this family.
Why are you asking for so much personal information? The information will be used to create an Ancestors and Descendants booklet which we hope to distribute at the reunion. You can see a sample of a similar booklet online. This booklet was created for the Sheppard family reunion in 2001, and it is protected with a password. To view the sample booklet, answer the password hint or call Sandy for the password. Click here to view the sample booklet. You can see what a descendants list looks like here. You can see what a reunion directory looks like here.
What if I'm not comfortable providing some of the information? That's fine. We hope to - at the very least - include every person's name. After that, if there is any piece of information you don't want to share, simply check "I'm not telling" and we'll leave it off the descendants list. Just FYI - much of this information (including birth dates, death dates, marriage dates, and divorce dates) can be obtained from Ancestry.com and the Minnesota Historical Society, but we are asking you to provide it so we know your comfort level when including it on our descendants list.
